A case of theft of a newborn child has come to light from Civil Hospital, Sector-6, Panchkula, Haryana. The woman had come here with the child, meanwhile a person claiming to be a doctor took the child from her. A CCTV footage of the child theft has also surfaced. The police have registered a case and started investigation in the matter.
According to the information, Suman, who lives in Manimajra, took her 4-day-old son to the government hospital in Manimajra on February 19 for the treatment of jaundice. There a person claiming to be a doctor said that he would refer the child to Panchkula. Suman reached Panchkula hospital with her husband and child.
The accused asked Suman’s husband to wait downstairs. Then he took Suman to the second floor with the child. From there he took the child to the third floor on the pretext of showing him to the doctor. After this he absconded with the child.
After waiting for a long time, when Suman went upstairs, neither the accused nor the child was found there. The family searched the entire hospital. Later, on going to Manimajra Hospital, it was found that the child was not referred anywhere.
Police have registered a case against an unknown person in Sector-7 police station Panchkula under sections 137(2) and 140(3) of the Indian Penal Code 2023. Police are searching for the accused.
