The session of the Punjab Assembly is going to start shortly. Leader of Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa, in an informal conversation with media persons before the session begins, said that 32 MLAs of the Aam Admi Party are in touch with him.
However, his intention is not to break the government. He said that this government has already fallen in the eyes of the people of Punjab by constantly lying.
Bajwa launched a scathing attack on the government
Bajwa also launched a scathing attack on the ruling party for not calling the session of the Assembly in December. He said that now when the budget session should have been called, the government is merely fulfilling a formality by calling today’s session.
He also said that the government has failed on all fronts. The law and order situation of the state was already in shambles and now the financial situation has also deteriorated further.
BJP accused of running away from issues
Former Bharatiya Janata Party chief Ashwani Sharma has also accused the government of running away from issues. He said that during the previous government when the Aam Aadmi Party was in power, it kept demanding that the assembly session should be prolonged but now when it is itself in power, it is afraid of calling the assembly session. The government has been avoiding meaningful debate on people’s issues.
Ashwini Sharma also called today’s session a mere informality. In response to a question about the BJP government in Delhi giving ₹2500 to women, he said that for the last 3 years they have not talked about giving ₹1000 to the women of Punjab.
He asked whether the Aam Aadmi Party would pay the 3 years’ dues to the women in Punjab. He said that the Delhi government will fulfill all its promises. He said that the work of cleaning the Yamuna has already begun.
