There are more than 800 outsourced workers in Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, now all of them are in trouble because the Municipal Corporation has given the responsibility of investigation to the Indian Institute of Public Administration. Which will submit its report to the Municipal Corporation Commissioner within 6 months. After this, it will be decided how many of them to keep and how many to show the way out.
While regarding this, former administrator of Chandigarh Banwari Lal Purohit has already said in the house meeting of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh that when there were more than 200 outsourced workers in the city earlier, even then the city was like this and now more than 800 outsourced workers have been hired, even then the city is the same.
IIPA is investigating
The Municipal Corporation officials have made a plan to improve the financial condition of the Municipal Corporation and control the unnecessary expenditure. Under this, the Municipal Corporation has soon given the contract to the Indian Institute of Public Administration to prepare a report, in which where and how the money of the Municipal Corporation is being spent, identification of unnecessary expenses and the possibilities of reduction will be explained in detail.
While the corporation does not have money even for the salaries of its employees, efforts are being made to stop wasteful expenditure to avoid financial crisis in future.
Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla said that an agency has been hired, which will report in 6 months that out of all the outsourced workers, how many are needed and how many are not.
Details sought including complete list postings
A complete list of outsourcing employees and details of their postings have been sought. This step has been taken keeping in mind the financial crisis. This will reveal where and for whom the outsourcing employees are actually working.
Along with this, it is also being investigated that which municipal corporation officials and employees have used their influence to get jobs for their relatives. Let us tell you that the Municipal Corporation was constantly receiving complaints that many outsourcing employees are working for the corporation only on paper, while in reality they are engaged in private work.
How much is spent where
The Indian Institute of Public Administration has been entrusted with the responsibility of auditing the financial irregularities of the Municipal Corporation. During this audit, a detailed report will be prepared on where and how the money of the Municipal Corporation is being spent, identification of unnecessary expenses and possibilities of reduction etc.
It will also be seen whether the recruitment of outsourcing employees has been done as per the rules or not. Also, it will be investigated whether the number of outsourcing employees and their work is actually needed or not.
Congress President also raised questions
Meanwhile, Chandigarh Congress President HS Lucky said that not only outsourced employees but also financial manpower should be audited. He said that he is not talking about taking anyone’s job but he wants to say that all the employees hired by the Municipal Corporation and for which work they have been hired, are only that many employees needed for that work or are more employees hired, which are not needed at all? So, they should also be audited because crores of rupees are being spent on them. If that is saved, it will be used in the development work of the city.
Corruption charges against former mayor
An FIR has been filed in Chandigarh Crime Branch against former Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Mayor Kuldeep Tita and his brother-in-law Rahul. Both are accused of taking Rs 75,000 from Ravi in the name of getting him a job as a sweeper. Ravi had given the evidence to the Crime Branch, but the investigation was put on hold since the day the Crime Branch filed the FIR.
The agency hired by the Municipal Corporation is also being looked at from another perspective that it may reveal whether someone else has got someone employed by taking money in the same way as the former mayor has been accused of? If this happens, no one will be spared from the clutches of law.
