Panchkula Police has arrested the accused of theft in Kalka. At this time the accused was out on bail. 300 grams of gold, 186 grams of silver and Rs 1.20 lakh cash have been recovered from the accused. The cost of the recovered goods is around Rs 32 lakh.
The arrested accused Karna alias Chiku (22) is a resident of Upper Mohalla of Kalka. He has been accused in two theft cases earlier. The accused was out on bail. He has studied only till 9th. Victim Harvinder Singh had told the police that on April 14, he had gone to Paonta Sahib with his family. On returning, he saw that the cupboard was broken. Gold and silver jewellery and cash had been stolen. The accused had also committed theft in the same house for the second time. The police caught the accused after examining the CCTV footage of the area.
Accused found roaming around Sabzi Mandi
Head constable Kanwarpal Singh received secret information that the accused was seen around Sabzi Mandi, Kalka. Based on the information, the team raided and arrested the accused from the spot. He was produced in the court and taken on three-day police remand, during which the theft incidents were revealed and recovery was also possible.

Victim Harvinder Singh and his family, who were in shock after the theft, were overjoyed when they got the information about the recovery. Harvinder Singh said, “We were not sure that the goods would be recovered, but the speed and honesty with which Panchkula Police worked is commendable. We are thankful to the police administration.”
