A house thief was caught in Panchkula: He used to climb trees and hide, changed his hideout after the crime, hid the goods in UP


The team of Sector-19 Crime Branch of Panchkula Police arrested a shrewd thief on Monday. He was dodging the police for a long time. Currently, he was living in the slums of Sector-14 of Panchkula. The accused had committed theft in four houses.

According to the information, the name of the accused is Rajkumar. He is a resident of Tehsil Gonda of Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh. He used to change his hideout after every crime. To escape from the police, he used to climb trees and hide. To avoid getting caught, he did not even use mobile. Due to this, the police could not trace his location.

Targeted four houses

The accused had targeted four houses in different sectors of Panchkula. One of these complaints was given by Surjeet Rana, a resident of Sector-7, from whose house gold-diamond jewellery, mobile and cash were stolen. The police had registered a case in the matter under Section 380 and 454 of the IPC.

Old criminal, cases registered earlier too

Police investigation has revealed that the accused is a habitual criminal and has previously been involved in three theft cases registered in Sector-14 and Sector-5 police station areas. He came out on bail from jail in November 2024 and was hiding in slums since then.

Stolen goods hidden in Hardoi and Ghaziabad

After the arrest, the accused was produced in the court, from where he has been sent on four-day police remand. The police is now planning to recover the stolen goods hidden in Ghaziabad and Hardoi on his indication. Also, the police suspect that he may be involved in other theft incidents as well.

This entire operation was led by ACP Crime Arvind Kamboj and Inspector Nirmal Singh. The matter is being investigated in depth by ASI Dhaniram.
