Chandigarh Congress calls BJP a false party

Said- where did the fund of 238 crores go, reached near the Mayor’s chair and started sloganeering

The house meeting of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation started with uproar on Tuesday morning. All the Congress councilors reached near the chair of Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla with banners in their hands and started sloganeering. Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Bunty and Congress councilor Gurpreet said that where is the 238 crore rupees given to the corporation by the administration, an account should be given. The banners in their hands read – ‘Bharatiya Jhoothi Party Hai’.

In which a total of 9 agendas will come, including increasing the booking of the city’s community center. If this happens, it will have a direct impact on the common people

On the other hand, the opposition is also attacking those agendas which will put a burden on the common people of the city after being passed in the house meeting and in the house meeting to be held on Tuesday, the opposition will be face to face with these agendas and these are to be given on the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model.

People will have to pay up to Rs 60,000 for the community center which was booked for Rs 24,000 till now. This step is being taken in the name of increasing the income of the corporation, but it will directly affect the pockets of the common people.

Same rent will be applicable for community centers

All the community centers of the Municipal Corporation are being prepared to be given on PPP model. A proposal has been made to increase their rent by 3 to 5 times. This proposal was first brought in March, but it was postponed without discussion. Now it is being brought again in the House.

The special thing is that the same rent will be applicable for community centers of all categories, due to which it will become difficult for the economically weaker section to book them. Meanwhile, the corporation’s senior deputy mayor Jasbir Singh Bunty said that common people book community centers. If their rates increase, then where will the poor people go, our party will oppose it in the House meeting.

The case of scam of crores in Chandigarh Sector 37 Community Center has also gained momentum, due to which the entire booking staff was changed by the Corporation Commissioner Amit Kumar and the investigation of the case has been marked to the Vigilance, there is bound to be uproar in the House meeting regarding this too.

Temporary water connection will be available even outside the red line

The Municipal Corporation has again placed a proposal in the House to provide temporary water connection to the houses built outside the red line. This time the proposal has been strengthened by citing the decisions of the courts of various states, so that the administration cannot refuse it. This demand was being raised for a long time, but till now approval from the administration could not be received.

The Municipal Corporation is now going to tighten the rules of fire safety (Fire NOC). If the Fire NOC is not taken within 6 months of applying, the application will be automatically cancelled and one will have to apply again. This change is being brought so that the applicant takes safety measures on time.

Although the rent is being increased, the facility of free booking of community centers for the marriage of girls from economically weaker sections will continue as before. Along with this, centers will also be given free of cost to senior citizens and resident welfare societies for meetings.

Pet and Community Dogs Bylaws

Another important agenda in the Municipal Corporation meeting will be about the management of pet and stray dogs in the city. The proposed Chandigarh Pet and Community Dogs Bylaws include several new provisions:

Registration mandatory: Registration of pet dogs will be mandatory and they will have to wear a metal token.

Fixed feeding place: Stray dogs will not be allowed to be fed anywhere. Food will be given only at fixed places with the consent of the councilor and RWA.

Penalty: A fine of Rs 10,000 will be imposed for violating the rules.

Ban on public places: Taking dogs to public places like Sukhna Lake, Rose Garden, Shantikunj, Rock Garden, Laser Valley will be banned.
