Jalandhar (Punjab): In a joint operation by the Municipal Corporation and Police, the illegal house of known drug smuggler Kulwant Sahota was demolished in Upkar Nagar, Jalandhar. Authorities took this action after repeatedly issuing notices, which the accused failed to respond to. Sahota is currently out on bail and faces four FIRs related to drug trafficking.
Municipal Corporation Took Action After Repeated Notices
ACP Central Amandeep Singh confirmed that the corporation had requested police security to carry out the demolition. Around 50 personnel were deployed for the operation. On Tuesday, the team arrived on site and demolished the structure.
Illegal Construction on Government Road
ACP Singh further stated that the entire area was sealed before the operation began. ATP Harvinder Singh from the Municipal Corporation stated that the building was illegally constructed on government road land. Despite receiving two prior notices, Kulwant Sahota failed to respond or provide clarification. Therefore, action was taken under the supervision of the duty magistrate.
