FIR Filed Against Woman Sarpanch and 3 Others in Jalandhar: Accused of Assaulting Couple Inside Home, Sarpanch Alleges Political Vendetta

Date:

Jalandhar, Punjab – June 29, 2025: An FIR has been registered against the woman Sarpanch of Nangal Salempur village in Jalandhar district, her husband, and two others for allegedly entering a couple’s house and physically assaulting them. The case has been lodged at the Maqsudan Police Station, while the Sarpanch has claimed the charges are politically motivated.

🔴 Accusations: Assault, Threats & False Allegations

The complaint was filed by Bhajan Kaur, a resident of Nangal Salempur, who alleged that on the night of June 5 at around 8:30 PM, the village Sarpanch Bharti, her husband Manohar Lal alias Gora, along with Dinesh Paswan and Chaman Lal alias Chummo, forcibly entered their house.

According to Bhajan Kaur:

“They started abusing and assaulted both me and my husband, Bhajan Singh. They threatened to evict us from the village and falsely accused me of theft before fleeing the scene.”

Both victims were later admitted to Civil Hospital Jalandhar for medical treatment. Following preliminary investigation and statement recording by ASI Rajinder Singh, an FIR was registered after extended inquiry.

📜 Charges Filed Under IPC Sections

The accused have been booked under the following sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC):

  • 115(2) – Abetment of offence

  • 333 – Voluntarily causing grievous hurt to deter public servant

  • 3(5) – [Applicable special clause – likely under SC/ST Act or other state-specific statutes]

📢 Sarpanch’s Response: “A False Case Under Political Pressure”

Sarpanch Bharti and her husband Manohar Lal have denied the allegations, stating:

“This FIR is the result of political pressure. Bhajan Singh and his wife are known habitual thieves in the village. They’ve been involved in several theft incidents, and the Panchayat has resolved past cases through written compromise with victims.”

⚖️ Ongoing Investigation

The police are continuing their investigation into the matter. Local sources suggest the case may intensify political tension in the village ahead of upcoming Panchayat proceedings.
