NEOS Airlines to Resume Direct Milan-Amritsar Flights from July 2: Bookings Open Now

Amritsar, Punjab: In a major relief for Punjabis residing abroad, especially in Italy, NEOS Airlines is all set to resume its direct international flight service between Milan and Amritsar from July 2, 2025. The service, which was suspended on May 6 due to geopolitical tensions under “Operation Sindoor,” is now restarting as conditions return to normal.

According to Amit Sharma, Manager at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport (ATQ), Amritsar, the airline has completed all clearances and resumed booking services, with the first flight scheduled for Tuesday, July 2. The move is expected to significantly benefit Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and business travelers commuting between Punjab and Europe.

✈️ Flight Details: Twice a Week Schedule

The Milan-Amritsar direct flight will operate twice a week, on:

  • Thursdays

  • Fridays

NEOS Airlines will operate a 359-seater wide-body aircraft equipped with modern amenities including onboard Wi-Fi, offering passengers a comfortable and seamless transcontinental journey.

The direct route eliminates the need for connecting flights via Delhi, Doha, or Istanbul, thus saving time, transit stress, and additional costs for passengers from Punjab.

🔙 Why Was the Service Suspended?

The Milan-Amritsar route had become immensely popular among the Punjabi diaspora in Italy, who preferred the direct connection over indirect routes. However, following heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, NEOS Airlines had temporarily suspended its operations from May 6, 2025, citing safety concerns and regulatory restrictions under Operation Sindoor.

With diplomatic and aviation conditions now stabilized, the airline has decided to reinstate the service starting this July.

👏 Community Reaction: Welcome News for NRIs

The announcement has triggered a wave of excitement across Punjabi communities in Italy, Germany, and surrounding European nations, where thousands of Indian-origin families — especially from Doaba and Majha regions of Punjab — live and work.

Previously, passengers had to rely on multi-stop routes or travel to Delhi or Mumbai for connecting flights, often resulting in increased travel time, visa hassles, and added cost.

Now, with NEOS flights back in service, passengers from Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, and Amritsar have renewed access to a direct European link.

🏨 Airport Authority: Prepared for Increased Traffic

Amritsar airport authorities have confirmed that all necessary arrangements have been made to handle the expected surge in international passengers. Immigration desks, customs, and baggage handling services are being reviewed and reinforced for smoother passenger processing.

Amit Sharma, Airport Manager, said:

“This flight route is not only important from a tourism and business standpoint, but also for family and cultural ties. We are fully prepared to welcome the NEOS aircraft and its passengers.”

🌍 Milan: A Punjabi Mini-Capital in Europe

Milan, known as Italy’s fashion and financial capital, is home to thousands of Punjabis, many of whom are engaged in:

  • Small and medium enterprises

  • Agriculture

  • Logistics and service industries

Over the years, it has become one of the top destinations for Indian migrant workers and entrepreneurs. The Milan-Amritsar flight is crucial in connecting these global citizens to their homeland.

💡 NEOS Airlines: Trusted Choice for Long-Haul Routes

NEOS Airlines is an Italy-based carrier known for operating long-distance flights between Europe and South Asia. With a reputation for timely service, passenger comfort, and competitive pricing, NEOS has built a loyal passenger base among NRIs over the years.

The airline’s direct connectivity, especially to Tier-II Indian cities like Amritsar, is a strategic link for global Indian communities.
