On Monday, in Zirakpur, a dispute between a Sikh youth and some Kanwariyas over a minor collision escalated so much that it reached the point of scuffle. During this, the turban of the Sikh youth fell off, due to which the atmosphere became tense. As soon as the information of the incident was received, the police reached the spot and investigation of the case has been started.
According to eyewitnesses, the Sikh youth had a minor collision with some youths doing the Kanwar Yatra, after which the youth immediately apologized. Despite this, the matter escalated and some Kanwariyas allegedly attacked him with sticks. The youth said that about 10 to 12 people attacked him and sticks were hit on his head.
After the incident, the youth, with the help of his friends, caught three people and handed them over to the police, while some other youths fled from the spot. One of the accused said that he was present there at the time of the incident, but he did not take part in any kind of fight. At present, the police have recorded the statement of the Sikh youth and have started investigating the case. The local administration has appealed to the people to maintain peace.
