According to the information, under the orders of DC Dr. Preeti Yadav to implement the Safe School Vehicle Policy in private schools, the District Safe Vehicle Committee today seized a bus of Narayan Public School for violating the Safe School Vehicle Policy.
This team has issued a notice to the school and also registered a case with the police. SDM Patiala Harjot Kaur (Major Retired) said that the District Child Protection Unit led by Tehsildar Karandeep Singh Bhullar, Assistant Transport Officer Manpreet Kaur and Child Protection Officer Rupwant Kaur conducted a surprise inspection of private school vehicles in collaboration with the District Education Department and Traffic Police. This team has asked the private school operators to implement the ‘Safe School Vehicle Policy’ in practice to ensure safe transportation of students to and from school.
SDM said that the school principals should ensure implementation of the Safe School Vehicle Policy at all costs and all schools, including transporters providing private transport facilities to students, should ensure to rectify the deficiencies in their vehicles under the Safe School Vehicle Policy. If any school is negligent in implementing this policy, action will be taken against the principal as per rules.
Meanwhile, Child Protection Officer Rupwant Kaur said that as per the instructions of the Safe School Vehicle Policy, challans are issued to those who have irregularities in driver’s name plate and uniform, female attendant, first aid box, fire extinguisher, CCTV cameras, overloading, etc. She said that out of the three buses of Narayan Public School, one bus belongs to the school and two buses were being run by the contractor, in which irregularities were found and one bus has been seized. A case has also been registered in the police in this regard and a notice has been issued to the school.
