Police of Thana City Nawanshahr has arrested the person who stole gold-silver jewellery, laptop and foreign currency from a house in Vikas Nagar. Police recovered the stolen goods from the accused and said that he has committed about half a dozen theft incidents in the area.
Giving information in the press conference, DSP Rajkumar Bajad and SHO Inspector Avtar Singh of Thana City Nawanshahr said that on April 15, Jaswinder Singh son of Swarn Singh, resident of Vikas Nagar, had lodged a complaint that he had gone to Rupnagar to visit relatives along with his family at 9 am. When he returned at 10 pm, he saw that the locks of the doors of the house were broken, the grill was uprooted and the locks of the cupboards of the rooms were also broken. On investigation, it was revealed that gold-silver jewellery, foreign dollars, laptop etc. had been stolen from the house.
Police gave information: DSP said that based on the complaint, a police team led by SHO Inspector Avtar Singh arrested the accused Rahul alias Gyani alias Sunny son of Gurdev Singh resident of Banga. 9 items of 4 tola gold, 22 items of 150 grams silver, and 50 foreign dollars have been recovered from him. Inspector Avtar Singh said that 5 cases of theft are already registered against the accused. The accused has been produced in the court and taken on 3-day police remand. The possibility of more theft incidents being revealed during interrogation cannot be ruled out.
