Awareness campaign has been launched by the Powercom team along with checking campaigns regarding electricity meters installed wrongly in various areas by some corrupt and bribe-taking employees of Agar Nagar division of Punjab State Power Corporation by tampering with government records. In which Powercom’s enforcement team and other departmental employees are appealing to the concerned consumers to get new electricity meters installed in their houses by completing the legal process.
Exion Daljit Singh has appealed to the people not to fall into the trap of any broker for getting electricity connection and has made them aware to take receipt of the amount paid by depositing the fee at the official counter located in the office of Powercom department located at Ferozepur Road. He told that various teams of officers and employees of the department have inspected 445 meters installed in the houses of consumers in the area, out of which about 225 have been found to be installed wrongly. The most interesting aspect of this case is that Exion Daljit Singh of Agar Nagar division has found suspicious electricity meters installed in various colonies by the employees. The report of the meters has been prepared by hand in which the number of suspicious electricity meters installed by the employees is more than 400 and out of this, there is a possibility of 225 meters being installed under fraud, which is being investigated on a war footing by the enforcement committee so that the ground reality of the matter can be placed before the general public.
Axion Diljit Singh has appealed to all the consumers to contact the officials of the Powercom department themselves to surrender the electricity connections installed illegally by the employees so that every electricity connection installed by the department in their houses can be given a legal form and a meter can be installed. Axion Diljit Singh said that the high officials of the enforcement committee of the Powercom department are thoroughly investigating the electricity meters installed illegally in various areas of the city division. Daljit Singh said that the high level team of the department has taken all the records of suspicious electricity meters in its possession and every aspect is being closely investigated. He said that strict action will be taken against every officer and employee found guilty in the scam case. Departmental action is necessary, no matter who it is. Diljeet Singh said that actually after the department issued a work order for electricity meters, electricity meters were installed in the houses of 2 consumers as part of a well-planned conspiracy by the employees, the security amount of which was pocketed and the records were also tampered with, and immediately after the matter came to light, he himself prepared a report of the scam and sent it to the higher officials of the department, in which earlier 300 meters were being declared suspicious, whereas after re-investigation by him this figure has reached close to 425.c
