Haryana MLAs and their family members will now be able to get a special travel allowance of maximum Rs 10,000 every month. The state government has decided to remove the maximum limit of Rs 1 lakh for monthly pension and dearness relief. Former MLAs will also now get a monthly medical allowance of Rs 10,000, the proposal of which was recently approved by the Cabinet. Governor Prof. Asim Kumar Ghosh has approved the amendment in the Haryana Legislative Assembly (Member Salary, Allowance and Pension) Act 1975.
In the upcoming monsoon session, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mahipal Dhanda will introduce the amendment bill. Under the new provision, this allowance will be given for travel undertaken by the MLA or his family members anywhere in India. Earlier this facility was available only when the total amount of monthly pension, dearness relief and travel allowance was less than Rs 1 lakh. This condition has now been removed on the demand of many MLAs.
