Since this morning, heavy rains are falling in many districts of the state in Punjab. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather changed on Monday and light to moderate rain occurred in many districts.
According to the Meteorological Center Chandigarh, 3.2 MM in Chandigarh, 0.5 MM in Amritsar, 2.4 MM in Patiala, 27.5 MM in Pathankot, 10.8 MM in Rupnagar and 9.0 MM in SBS Nagar were recorded. Due to rain, the day temperature remained between 29 to 30 degree Celsius in many districts, giving relief to the people from the humid heat.
According to the department, there may be heavy rainfall in the state between 13 and 15 August. The weather will be clear again from August 16. The department has appealed to the people to be alert and take necessary precautions during this period. On the other hand, the rain continues in Himachal Pradesh as well. Shimla, Sirmaur, Mandi and Kangra received rainfall on Monday. Traffic remained suspended from 8:30 am to 11:30 am on Monday due to a landslide at Kalidhang near Haiwana in Kafota subdivision on the Paonta Sahib-Shilai-Gumma national highway in Sirmaur district.
