Yellow alert has been issued for rain in Punjab today as well. Heavy rains are expected in three districts of the state, Pathankot, Hoshiarpur and Rupnagar. While the weather is expected to remain normal in all other districts. After the rain in various districts of Punjab yesterday, a sharp drop in temperature has been observed.
According to the information, the Sabharan branch canal passing through Amritsar overflowed near Raiya. Its effect was seen in three villages. After which the district administration started rescue work along with the local people. A part from where the water overflowed and reached the fields in the villages was filled late at night. DC Amritsar Sakshi Sahni informed that with the help of local people, the administration team succeeded in doing this difficult task. At the same time, in Hoshiarpur too, the rivers and streams coming from Himachal are in spate. Hoshiarpur’s Bhangi-Cho is overflowing and flowing. Police has also appealed to the local people to use major bridges and not to cross overflowing rivers and drains.
Temperature of Punjab drops below normal
Most of the districts in Punjab received rain yesterday. Amritsar received 14 mm, Ludhiana received 18 mm, Patiala received 1 mm, Hoshiarpur received 62 mm, Mohali received 14.5 mm, Pathankot received 4 mm, Rupnagar received 10.5 mm and SBS Nagar received 15 mm of rain. Due to the rain, the maximum temperature of the state dropped by 3.3 degrees. After which the temperature of the state dropped by 4.4 degrees below normal.
Chances of rain in the state tomorrow as well
Chances of rain are also there in Punjab tomorrow and Saturday as well. The Meteorological Department in the state has predicted heavy rains in Pathankot, Hoshiarpur and Rupnagar. But after that the weather will remain normal for many days. Due to which an increase in temperature can be seen.
