Aam Aadmi Party Secretary Hrithik Luthra was duped online. The Cyber Crime Cell has filed a case against the fraudster and has now sought details from Instagram.
In his complaint to the police, Hrithik Luthra stated that he wanted to create a painting for his mother’s birthday. He saw a reel on Instagram, which led him to an Instagram user named Vanshika Soni. He asked her to create an oil painting, for which she demanded 9,000 rupees and assured him that the painting would be delivered to his address within three to four days.
Vanshika agreed to the painting for 8,000 rupees, and Hrithik transferred the money to her account. Hrithik said that when he called Vanshika four days later, she asked for a few more days and then stopped answering his calls. After that, she continued chatting on her own, and when a considerable amount of time passed, she started demanding her money back, after which Vanshika Soni resorted to threats and instead started demanding that Hrithik file a police complaint against her. Hrithik filed a complaint with senior Jalandhar police officials, demanding justice. After investigation, the police registered a case against Vanshika Soni in the cybercrime cell. The woman has not yet been arrested.
