The historic city of Sri Muktsar Sahib is about to receive a major relief. Fifteen new tippers have arrived at the Municipal Council of Sri Muktsar Sahib for garbage disposal. Municipal Council President Shammi Teria stated that a tender for 31 tippers had been placed, of which 15 have arrived in Muktsar, and the remaining 16 are expected to arrive soon.
He added that training for sanitation workers to operate these tippers has begun, and the tippers will soon be operational for the convenience of the public. Temporary garbage dumps have long existed at various locations in Muktsar, leaving residents constantly in fear of stench, filth, and disease. However, under this Municipal Council plan, a tipper will operate in each ward, collecting both wet and dry waste and disposing of it directly at the large dumping point in Sadar Wala.
Pradhan Shammi Teria also stated that the city council has crores of rupees available for public convenience, but work has stalled due to the non-approval of several proposals. If the government approves the proposals, problems related to roads, streets, sewerage, and other basic issues can be addressed. He also appealed to the public to cooperate by putting garbage in tippers instead of throwing it on the roads and streets. This will maintain the city’s cleanliness and protect people from diseases
