Restrictions against migrant laborers were imposed at the general meeting of the Panchayat of Moonak Kalan, a historic village in Tanda, Hoshiarpur district. Sarpanch Manveer Singh stated that with the consent of the Gram Panchayat members and residents, the Panchayat passed important resolutions against migrant laborers. During this period, migrant laborers living in the village should get themselves verified and register their names with the Panchayat members. If any migrant laborer brings another laborer with them, their identity cards must be submitted to the Gram Panchayat. Migrant laborers are prohibited from roaming in the village between 8 pm and 8 am. Any migrant laborer who quarrels within the village or among themselves will be immediately expelled from the village, and no villager will support or advocate for them.
In addition, migrant laborers living in the village will be verified every six months. No Panchayat member or Lambardar will verify Aadhaar cards, voter cards, ration cards, or other certificates obtained by residents. Migrants will not be allowed to acquire land in or around the village. No migrant will be allowed to vote in the village, and any existing votes will be immediately cancelled.
