The world of crime is once again rampant in Amritsar, Punjab. A prominent social worker has received an open threat from an unknown gangster, demanding a ransom of 1 crore rupees for booking an expensive Fortuner car. The threat clearly warns that if the money is not paid, “our men” will arrive at his home in the dark of night. This incident has caused a sensation in the city, and the police have launched a thorough investigation.
The social worker, whose name has been withheld, stated that he received the threat over the phone. The accused said, “You have booked a Fortuner car, pay 1 crore rupees or our men will come at night and take care of everything.” The victim says that he has long been active in social work, including helping the poor, organizing education camps, and health camps. He recently booked a new vehicle with his hard-earned money, which may have come to the attention of the criminals. “I’ve never held any grudge against anyone, but this threat is scaring my family,” he said emotionally. Amritsar police immediately took cognizance of the incident. Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the threat’s number is being traced and CCTV footage is being examined.
