The Punjab BJP has demanded that the historic Chandni Chowk in Delhi be renamed “Sheesh Ganj Chowk.” Punjab BJP spokesperson Preetpal Singh Baliewal has written a letter to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta regarding this. The letter requests that an announcement be made on the martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.
In the letter, Punjab BJP spokesperson Preetpal Singh Baliewal wrote that Chandni Chowk is the very place where Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji sacrificed his life to protect religion and humanity, and therefore, this place should be dedicated to his sacrifice.
The party has also suggested that the three metro stations adjacent to Chandni Chowk be named after Bhai Mati Das, Bhai Sati Das, and Bhai Dayal Das, who were martyred along with Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Baliewal said that this step would not only honor history but also inspire the new generation of the country with the sacrifice and valor of the Sikh Gurus.
