Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra has been ordered by a Patiala court to appear before it by November 12. This action has been taken against him in a rape case. The police have pasted a notice at his Patiala residence in this regard. The court has also made it clear that if he fails to appear by the stipulated time, the process to declare him an absconder will be initiated.
It should be noted that about two months ago, a rape case was registered against Pathanmajra at the Civil Lines police station in Patiala. When the police went to arrest him, he fled from Dabri village in Karnal, Haryana. A separate FIR has also been registered in Karnal in this matter.
The MLA had earlier filed an anticipatory bail application in the Patiala court, which the court rejected on October 9. Pathanmajra had also released a video on social media, calling the allegations against him a political conspiracy.
