Suspended Punjab DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar, who is in Burail Jail in connection with a bribery case, filed an application in court on Tuesday, citing back pain and requesting a mattress. The court has forwarded Bhullar’s application to the jail superintendent. The court stated that if providing a mattress is possible under the jail manual, the application should be considered.
Since being sent to jail in judicial custody on Tuesday after the completion of CBI remand, suspended DIG Bhullar made this request, citing a doctor’s report. The application stated that when he was sent to Burail Jail in judicial custody the day after his arrest, he had difficulty sleeping without a mattress. The application stated that due to back pain, he is unable to sleep properly without a mattress while in judicial custody. Considering his health and medical report, a mattress should be provided in jail.
