Acting on intelligence, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police busted a Pakistan-linked arms and narcotics network and arrested five individuals. Six modern pistols (five .30 bore and one Glock 9mm) and 1 kg 10 grams of heroin were recovered from them. This information was shared by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav.
He said that preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested accused were in contact with Pakistan-based handlers through social media and drones and coordinated the supply and distribution of illegal weapons and narcotics in Punjab.
The DGP said that FIRs have been registered against the accused under the Arms Act and NDPS Act at the Chheharta Police Station and the Cantonment Police Station. Further investigation is underway to identify the handlers and expose the entire network.
