Controversy has escalated surrounding the Maa Chintpurni Mahotsav held in Una, Himachal Pradesh. Some Hindu organizations in Ludhiana have raised serious objections to Punjabi singer Babbu Maan’s performance. They allege that despite the presence of a lamp brought from Mata Chintpurni and a religious stage at the government-organized event, the singer performed songs that contained obscenities, references to alcohol and weapons. This hurt the religious sentiments of devotees.
The organizations allege that instead of bhajans or religious songs, songs were played at the event held on November 15th and 16th, which created an atmosphere inappropriate for a devotional event. They also allege that women were made to dance to inappropriate songs on stage, which they described as disrespectful. They have demanded action against both the artist and the organizers, stating that any violation of the dignity of religious events will not be tolerated.
