Shriman Hospital (now Fortis Shriman Superspeciality Hospital) located on Pathankot Road in the city is embroiled in controversy. Serious negligence has surfaced, bringing the matter to the headlines.
According to reports, the medical report of Pawan Kumar, a well-known businessman from Jalandhar, listed a disease he did not have. The erroneous report not only caused him mental distress but also resulted in the cancellation of his health insurance. Pawan Kumar stated that the report’s error caused him significant hardship. He has filed a case against Shriman Hospital (Fortis Shriman) and Star Health Insurance in the consumer forum and has also sent a legal notice of 50 lakh rupees to the hospital.
What is the whole matter?
According to the complainant, Pawan Kumar, he went to Shriman Hospital with mild chest pain. Dr. V.P. Sharma examined him and discharged him the next day. But in Pawan Kumar’s report, a serious disease called DVD (Double Vessel Disease) was mentioned, whereas he did not have any such problem. When he filed a claim with Star Health Insurance on the basis of this report, the company rejected the claim citing it as a serious disease. When Pawan Kumar showed this report to Dr. Sharma, he accepted the mistake and apologized and said that it was a typing mistake. After this the doctor issued a new correct report. The businessman said that due to this negligence of the hospital, he had to face mental torture, for which both the hospital and Star Health Insurance Company are responsible.
