On Monday, a massive Nagar Kirtan dedicated to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji departed from Gurdwara Chhathi Patshahi Sahib in Srinagar for Sri Anandpur Sahib amid a solemn and spiritual atmosphere. The entire area reverberated with chants of “Jo Bole So Nihal” (Who Bole So Nihal) as the Nagar Kirtan began.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah himself was present in Srinagar for this special occasion. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal also joined the congregation. The three leaders bowed their heads at the Gurdwara Sahib and conveyed the message of promoting peace, humanity, and brotherhood.

The Nagar Kirtan will begin in Srinagar and will first reach Jammu, where a large number of devotees are ready to welcome it. A large-scale resting ceremony has been scheduled in Jammu on November 19th. The Jammu and Kashmir administration and Gurdwara Management Committees have ensured complete security and arrangements for the convenience of the devotees. The convoy includes an ambulance, a digital museum, langar service, and special chariots dedicated to religious propagation, all of which hold special appeal for devotees in Jammu and Kashmir.

Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji emphasized the importance of freedom to practice every religion, human rights, and mutual brotherhood. These values are deeply rooted in Jammu and Kashmir’s composite culture and diverse religious identities. Leaders stated that Guru Ji’s teachings are even more relevant today. The Nagar Kirtan will depart from Srinagar and reach Sri Anandpur Sahib on November 22nd, passing through Jammu, Pathankot, Dasuha, Hoshiarpur, Mahilpur, and Garhshankar. Nagar Kirtans will also depart from Faridkot, Talwandi Sabo, and Gurdaspur on November 20th. All processions will culminate together at Sri Anandpur Sahib on November 22nd.

A large number of devotees from Jammu and Kashmir are expected to attend the major events taking place at Sri Anandpur Sahib from November 23rd to 25th. The “Chak Nanaki” tent city, an inter-faith conference, a drone show, an exhibition, and a blood donation and tree-planting program will be the main attractions on November 25. Devotees and saints from Jammu and Kashmir described the event as a historic spiritual journey dedicated to the immortal martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.
