Late in the evening, panic gripped Batala’s Jalandhar Road when two unidentified men, riding a motorcycle, opened fire at Seth Telecom, the shop of District Congress Committee Senior Vice President Gautam Seth Guddu. Although no one was injured in the incident, the men fled the scene. Upon receiving information about the incident, Batala MLA Amansher Singh Sherry Kalsi, former Cabinet Minister and current MLA Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Shiromani Akali Dal constituency in-charge Naresh Mahajan, Mayor Sukhdeep Singh Teja, City Congress Committee President Sanjeev Sharma and DSP City Sanjeev Kumar, along with a police party, reached the spot. Giving information in this regard, Gautam Seth Guddu, Senior Vice President of the District Congress Committee, said that he was at his shop last evening when two unidentified men on a motorcycle fired a shot at his shop, striking the glass panes and severely shattering them. After committing the crime, the men fled the scene. Gautam Seth Guddu explained that he had been receiving death threats and ransom demands from gangster Nishan Jodian, and that the gunmen’s associates had fired at his shop. No one was injured in the incident, but panic prevailed among nearby shopkeepers.
Providing further information, DSP City Sanjeev Kumar stated that he received information that two unidentified men had fired shots at Seth Telecom, after which he immediately arrived at the scene and began investigating the matter. The police are conducting a thorough investigation and the shooters will be arrested soon.
