The case of the murder of a 13-year-old girl in Jalandhar has taken a new turn. The mother of the deceased has alleged that when she approached the police seeking justice for her daughter, ACP Gagandeep Singh and SHO Manjinder Singh not only threatened her but also mocked her daughter and used abusive language. The family says this police behavior was extremely hurtful and insensitive, deepening their wounds.
The mother of the deceased stated that she still faces threats from the said policemen. Furthermore, the victim’s mother has filed a complaint against the ACP and SHO with CP Dhanpreet Kaur, and has also sent a copy to the Governor and the Director General of Police. CP Dhanpreet Kaur stated that suspended ASI Mangat Ram, who was negligent in the case, has been dismissed from service. Along with the ASI, two PCR ASIs, Lakhbir Singh and Hardeep Singh, have been suspended and a departmental inquiry has been ordered.
Tearful tributes were paid at the Gurdwara Sahib.
A final prayer was held for the girl at the Gurdwara Sahib, where a large number of women and local residents attended. Carrying photographs and placards of the girl, the congregation reiterated their demand for justice. The atmosphere during the prayer was deeply somber.
