The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the official notification for the CTET February 2026 exam, making it the most important event of the year for candidates nationwide aspiring to become teachers.
The notification is available on ctet.nic.in, and interested candidates can now apply through the prescribed process. The application deadline is December 18th, so candidates must complete the application within the stipulated time. The exam will be held on February 8th, 2016. The CTET is a mandatory eligibility test for those who aim to teach classes 1st to 8th. Qualifying the CTET is considered a crucial qualification for teaching positions in KVS, NBS, and various private schools. After passing the exam, candidates become eligible to apply for teaching positions in government and private institutions.
Paper 1 and Paper 2 Pattern: Paper 1 is for candidates wishing to teach from 1st to 2nd grade. A 2-year D.El.Ed. or B.El.Ed. qualification is required. Paper 26 is for classes 1st to 8th grade, requiring a bachelor’s degree along with a B.Ed. or 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed. qualification. Both papers are two and a half hours long, with a total of 150 questions, and there is no negative marking.
Here are the criteria:
General category candidates must obtain 60 percent marks, or 90 out of 150. For OBC, M.C., and ST categories, approximately 55 percent marks, or 82.5 marks, is considered sufficient. Paper-1 consists of Child Psychology, Language, Mathematics and Environmental Studies, while Paper-2 contains questions related to Child Development, Language Skills, Mathematics Science or Social Studies.
