A massive traffic jam occurred at the Ladowal toll plaza on the National Highway today. Senior Congress leader and former MLA from Atam Nagar, Simranjit Singh Bains, traveling from Jalandhar, became stuck in the traffic jam. After nearly half an hour, his vehicle traveled from Phillaur on the wrong side and reached the Ladowal toll plaza. After this, former MLA Simranjit Singh Bains discussed the traffic jam with Toll Manager Vipin Rai at the toll plaza. Furthermore, Bains informed the Toll Manager about the traffic jam, which lasted for more than three minutes. After this, the MLA personally got out of his vehicle and removed the barricade at the toll plaza, allowing vehicles stuck in the jam to pass through without paying toll fees. Furthermore, former MLA Bains warned the toll plaza employees that if they continue to harass drivers in this manner, he will set up his own camp at the toll plaza.
He stated that according to National Highway Authority rules, drivers who are stuck at the toll plaza for more than three minutes are allowed to pass without paying the toll fee. However, at the Ladowal toll plaza, drivers are being harassed for hours. He stated that he himself was stuck in the traffic jam from Goraya, forcing him to take the wrong route to reach the toll. Toll plaza manager Vipin Rai stated that the toll plaza is not at fault. He explained that Saturday and Sunday are holidays, which often lead to traffic jams at the toll plaza. He stated that the toll plaza is following the National Highway Authority’s rules.
