Acting on the directions issued by DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav and SSP Jalandhar Rural Harvinder Singh Virk, under the supervision of DSP Adampur Rajiv Kumar, Bhogpur Police Station Chief Inspector Rajesh Kumar Arora conducted a special blockade. Five Bullet motorcycles whose drivers had deliberately fired loud firecrackers after removing their company-installed silencers and installing larger, illegal ones, and also had their horns removed and installed larger, illegal ones, were impounded. 36 traffic challans were issued for all other motorcycles that violated traffic rules.
Speaking to reporters, Station House Officer Rajesh Kumar Arora said that the police are also informing the public that those who have modified their motorcycles, such as larger horns or modified lights, should remove them from their vehicles immediately, otherwise all vehicles will be impounded and action will be taken. A special appeal is made to children under the age of 18 and without a driving license, and to not send children to school. All drivers should wear helmets and carry all documents. Anyone found violating traffic rules will be prosecuted as per the law, and vehicles will be impounded and challaned. He further stated that the Bhogpur police will soon begin checking vehicles driven by schoolchildren. If a minor or unlicensed student is found driving a two-wheeler, action may be taken against the vehicle owner.
