Reports have emerged regarding a major accident in the Gandhi Camp area of Jalandhar. According to reports, an overloaded truck collided with several electricity poles in the locality. As a result of the collision, the poles snapped and toppled over, disrupting the power supply across the entire area. It is reported that the overloaded truck had entered the narrow lanes of the residential neighborhood. During this maneuver, the cargo loaded onto the truck snagged on the overhead power lines; the poles were uprooted and crashed down, causing sparks to fly from the live wires.
Following the accident, power supply was cut off throughout the entire neighborhood and surrounding areas. Local residents have voiced concerns that vehicles frequently enter residential zones—a practice they argue should be strictly prohibited. In the wake of the incident, residents of the area took to the streets to protest and express their outrage against the administration. Meanwhile, the electricity department was duly informed about the incident. Additionally, the owner of the truck has pledged to compensate for the damages incurred. Teams from both the police and the electricity department have arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation, and further action is currently underway.
