In the metropolis, yet another happy home has been shattered due to domestic strife. A young married man, Vikramjit, embraced death, allegedly driven to it by harassment and mental anguish caused by his wife. The young man committed suicide late at night in his room by hanging himself from the ceiling fan using a *chunni* (scarf) to form a noose. Following the incident, police from the Daresi police station arrived at the scene, took custody of the body, and transported it to the Civil Hospital. In connection with this case, acting on a complaint filed by the deceased’s mother, Sarabjit Kaur, the police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against the accused wife, Kajal, and Raj Rani.
In her statement to the police, the deceased Vikramjit’s mother revealed that her eldest son, Vikramjit, was married to a young woman named Kajal. The family members allege that shortly after the marriage, Kajal began subjecting Vikramjit to mental harassment. It had become her habit to pick fights over trivial matters and constantly create discord within the household.
According to reports, the conflict between the husband and wife had escalated to such an extent that Kajal had been living at her parents’ home for approximately the past two months. Vikramjit was left utterly broken by his wife’s departure and the persistent mental torment he endured. Finally, unable to bear it any longer, he took the drastic step last night around 9 PM, ending his life by hanging himself with a *chunni* inside his room. The family members discovered the tragedy only after Vikramjit failed to emerge from his room for a considerable period. Upon breaking down the door, the horrific scene that greeted them left everyone completely devastated and in shock. Upon receiving the information, a police team immediately arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation.
