Another high-speed accident has occurred today on the Mukerian-Gurdaspur main highway—a route notorious for such mishaps. According to reports, a tipper truck laden with soil, traveling from the direction of Purana Shala towards Gurdaspur, rear-ended a Maruti Alto car near the Stadium Turn in the Chawa area, leaving the car severely damaged.
According to the information received, an employee of Rana Sugar Mill was traveling towards Gurdaspur in his Maruti Alto car (registration number PB 36 H 2450). As he approached the Stadium Turn near Chawa, a speeding tipper truck approaching from behind lost control and slammed violently into the car. The impact was so severe that the car sustained extensive damage; however, the driver miraculously survived.
The victim stated that he was driving his vehicle slowly, but the tipper driver negligently crashed forcefully into the side of his car, making it difficult to maintain control of the vehicle. Following the accident, the tipper driver fled the scene along with his vehicle. SSF (Special Security Force) personnel and passersby who arrived at the spot assisted the injured driver. Eyewitnesses noted down the tipper’s registration number, and the information has been relayed to the control room through the SSF personnel.
According to the SSF personnel, the same tipper truck had been involved in another accident just the previous day. The police have launched a search for the tipper and are making efforts to apprehend it as soon as possible. The victim—the car driver—has demanded strict legal action against the absconding tipper driver to ensure he receives justice
