A new revelation has emerged regarding the murder of a Congress leader. On Sunday, Parminder Tiwari—the Congress Block President—was brutally murdered in Ludhiana. While the police are currently linking this homicide to a property dispute, the victim’s family and close associates reject this theory, asserting instead that it was a contract killing.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 6:30 PM on Sunday evening, when Parminder Tiwari was seated on a chair outside his quarters at the bus stand in Takhran village. Sangeeta, a woman who runs a shop nearby, stated that Parminder Tiwari arrived in his vehicle and took a seat on a chair at the location. He spent 15 minutes speaking with the woman regarding her child’s school admission, after which he remained on a phone call with someone for another half-hour. The woman further recounted that, during this time, two youths—with their faces covered and carrying axes—were seen loitering in the vicinity.
The attackers first approached Tiwari and greeted him in a casual manner. Immediately thereafter, they launched a sudden and violent axe attack on his head. The assault was so swift and brutal that Tiwari had no opportunity to defend himself or even cry out for help. Initially, it sounded as though someone had struck the shop’s shutter; however, when the woman stepped outside to investigate, she found Parminder Tiwari lying on the ground, drenched in blood. Raising an alarm, she managed to gather a crowd of people, following which Tiwari was immediately rushed to the hospital.
Five minutes after the incident, an international call was received on Tiwari’s mobile phone, inquiring about his condition. According to Nand Kishore Kaushal, a close associate of Tiwari, the call was answered by the victim’s son, who subsequently informed the rest of the family about it. This phone call has cast a further shadow of suspicion over the entire case. The family alleges that this was not merely a result of an ordinary dispute, but rather a premeditated murder executed as part of a calculated conspiracy. They have issued a stern warning, declaring that they will neither allow the post-mortem examination to be conducted nor perform the final rites until the accused are arrested. Meanwhile, the police have identified one of the accused and registered a murder case against him; continuous raids are being conducted to effect his arrest. ADCP Jashandeep Singh states that the full details of the case will be revealed shortly.
