Noormahal Police Solve ‘Blind Murder’ Case; Perpetrators Carried Out Crime by Throwing Chili Powder into Victim’s Eyes

Date:

Acting under the directives of senior officials of the Jalandhar Rural Police—specifically Vineet Ahlawat (Superintendent of Police, Investigation), Onkar Singh Brar (DSP, Nakodar Sub-division), and Inspector Palwinder Singh (SHO, Noormahal Police Station)—the police team has successfully solved the mystery behind a ‘blind murder’ case that occurred in the Noormahal area. Utilizing modern and technical investigative methods, the entire team identified the accused individuals and has taken them into custody. DSP Onkar Singh Brar stated that on March 1, 2026, a report was lodged by Dalip Singh, son of Dhyan Singh and a resident of Patti Purewal, Shankar (under the jurisdiction of Sadar Nakodar Police Station), stating that his son, Iqbal Singh alias Babblu, had traveled from Nakodar towards village Rampur on a scooter on February 28, 2026.

En route—near the newly constructed highway close to Noormahal—unknown individuals attacked him on a dirt track using sharp-edged weapons and murdered him. In connection with this incident, a case was registered at the Noormahal Police Station under FIR No. 32, dated March 1, 2026, pursuant to Section 103 of the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita), and an investigation was initiated.

During the course of the investigation, it came to light that the deceased had been residing at the home of NRI Amarjit Singh Kang for approximately 17–18 years, where he served as a caretaker. He frequently quarreled with Satnam Singh (a mason) and Babblu alias Lalla (a laborer), who were also employed at the same premises, as the deceased often interfered with their work; this interference had fostered a mutual animosity between them.

On February 28, 2026, at approximately 8:30 PM, the accused executed a premeditated plan to intercept Iqbal Singh on his way. They threw chili powder into his eyes and subsequently attacked him with a sickle (a sharp-edged weapon), resulting in his death. Following the act, the accused fled the scene, taking with them the deceased’s mobile phone and essential documents. With the aid of technical investigation, the police arrested both accused individuals on April 2, 2026. They will be produced before the Honorable Court to seek police remand, and further interrogation is underway. The deceased has been identified as Iqbal Singh alias Babblu, son of Dalip Singh, a resident of Patti Purewal, Shankar (under the jurisdiction of Sadar Nakodar Police Station), who was associated with Babblu Cloth House, Chhota Bazar, Nakodar. The arrested accused have been identified as Satnam Singh, son of Shingara Singh, a resident of Malowal (under the jurisdiction of Mehatpur Police Station), and Babblu alias Lalla, son of Raju, a resident of Pandori Motua (under the jurisdiction of Sadar Nakodar Police Station).
