The reign of terror by audacious robbers in the city shows no signs of abating. The latest incident occurred on Chandigarh Road, where a cunning robber executed a crime, thereby challenging the police’s security apparatus. Given the gravity of the matter, the police have registered a case against the unidentified accused and have launched raids to apprehend him.
According to the complainant, Gagan Malhotra, the incident took place during the intervening night of March 19 and 20. As he was traveling from Samrala Chowk towards Chandigarh Road, a mugger targeted him near the Reliance Digital Complex, situated close to Prakash Dhaba. The accused has been identified as Baljit; he launched a sudden attack, snatched the victim’s mobile phone and a wallet containing cash, and made a swift getaway.
This late-night robbery incident has created a sensation in the area. Acting on the victim’s complaint, the police have registered a case against the accused, Baljit, under relevant sections of the law. The police are now scrutinizing footage from CCTV cameras installed within the complex and the surrounding areas in an effort to ascertain the accused’s location.
