In connection with the grenade attack outside the Punjab BJP headquarters, the Counter-Intelligence Wing of the Punjab Police—in a joint operation with the Chandigarh Police and with assistance from the Haryana Police—arrested two key accused individuals from Rewari. After undergoing a medical examination at the Civil Hospital in Mohali, the accused were produced before the court of a Duty Magistrate. After hearing arguments from both sides, the court remanded all the accused involved in this case to police custody for three days. The arrested individuals have been identified as Gurtej Singh and Amanpreet Singh, both residents of Ratangarh in Rupnagar. Amanpreet Singh also possesses a criminal record, with cases of theft and snatching registered against him in S.A.S. Nagar and Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh.
This action follows the arrest, just a day earlier, of five other accused individuals: Balwinder Lal alias Shami, Jasvir Singh alias Jassi, Charanjit Singh alias Channi, Rubal Chauhan, and Mandeep alias Abhijot Sharma. A hand grenade and a .30 bore Zigana pistol were recovered from their possession. Following these arrests, all seven individuals implicated in this case are now in police custody. All these accused have been remanded to police custody for a period of three days.
