Today, several schools across Punjab have received threats of being bombed. Amritsar has now been added to this list; consequently, the Amritsar administration has placed several schools on high alert, and the Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar has ordered the closure of several prominent schools in the district. Notably, security agencies across Punjab have gone on full alert following the threats to bomb schools in the state. Following similar threats received by three schools in Jalandhar, several schools in Chandigarh and Amritsar have now also received threatening emails.
Given the gravity of the situation, the Amritsar administration has ordered the precautionary closure of several renowned schools. The management of Shri Ram Ashram Public School in Amritsar stated that the school received a threatening email earlier this morning. The police were informed immediately thereafter; a police team promptly arrived at the scene and conducted a thorough inspection of the entire school premises.
**Parents Arrive at the Scene**
School administrators stated that the decision to close the school was taken with security in mind, and parents were notified to come and take their children home. The school management is currently dismissing the students and ensuring their safe return home, while parents were summoned to the school immediately. Meanwhile, parents who arrived at the school confirmed that they had received phone calls from the school asking them to take their children home immediately; subsequently, they arrived at the school and are now taking their children home safely.
**Tightened Security Arrangements**
On the other hand, following the receipt of threatening emails by schools and government offices in Amritsar, the police have significantly tightened security arrangements. DCP (Law and Order) Alam Vijay Singh stated that, in light of the emails received by the Police Commissioner, anti-sabotage checks have been conducted at all affected schools. He further added that a suspect is being brought to Amritsar from another state on a production warrant; he will be interrogated to facilitate an in-depth investigation into the matter. The police have made comprehensive preparations to maintain law and order in the region.
