The Gurdaspur District Police, in a joint operation conducted with the assistance of central agencies and the Amritsar District Police, successfully dismantled a terrorist module sponsored by the ISI-backed Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). Two individuals have been arrested in connection with this operation. The module was operating under the directives of a handler based abroad. The following items were recovered:
Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav stated that the operation resulted in the recovery of five hand grenades, two specialized detonators, a PTT timer (complete with a coder, decoder, and 9V battery), IED material (comprising one kilogram of high explosives), and a Baofeng walkie-talkie equipped with a cable and trigger mechanism. This recovery substantiates that the accused were plotting to execute major attacks with the specific objective of disrupting peace in the region.
