A speeding driver knocked down an electric pole situated on the main road of the Kailash Nagar locality, which falls under the Sundar Nagar Division of the Punjab State Power Corporation. During the incident, the entire area was shaken by a series of loud electrical explosions, causing panic among residents, who rushed out of their homes and onto the streets in fear.
Fortunately, the electric pole did not snap and fall to the ground; instead, it remained suspended in mid-air several feet above the surface. The site where this incident occurred—in the Kailash Nagar locality near Basti Jodhewal Chowk—is an area that typically witnesses heavy pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
Following the accident, the driver managed to flee the scene along with the vehicle. Reports suggest that the pole was first struck by a vehicle late on Thursday night; subsequently, on Friday afternoon, a driver of another large, speeding vehicle crashed into it with such force that the pole was severely damaged. This collision triggered sparking in the power lines and a series of loud explosions, throwing the entire locality into chaos.
As a result of the accident, the power supply to the entire area remained disrupted for several hours, causing significant inconvenience to local residents. Following the incident, the matter was reported to officials of the Punjab State Power Corporation.
