Health Department Issues Advisory: 12 PM to 3 PM…

Date:

In view of rising temperatures and scorching heat, the Barnala Health Department has issued a special health advisory to protect the general public from the adverse effects of heat and heatstroke. Providing details in this regard, Civil Surgeon of Barnala, Dr. Haripal Singh Sidhu, has appealed to the public to take necessary precautions to safeguard themselves against the potential severity of the weather.

Dr. Sidhu explained that the period between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM is the hottest part of the day; therefore, people should refrain from venturing outdoors unnecessarily during this time. He specifically advised vulnerable groups to remain vigilant; these groups include newborns and young children, the elderly (aged 65 years and above), pregnant women, laborers and farmers working outdoors under the open sky, individuals suffering from heart disease, high blood pressure, or obesity, athletes engaged in strenuous outdoor activities, and homeless individuals.

The Civil Surgeon clarified that these individuals are prone to rapid dehydration, which makes them particularly susceptible to heatstroke. For the convenience of the district’s residents, adequate arrangements have been made for emergency medicines and ORS packets to treat heatstroke cases at the Civil Hospital Barnala, Sub-Divisional Hospital Tapa, and the Community Health Centers (CHCs) in Dhanaula, Mahal Kalan, and Bhadaur.
