Recently, a sensation spread across the ‘C Division’ police station area in Amritsar following the discovery of a truck driver’s body inside his vehicle. Acting swiftly on the matter, the police have now solved the murder mystery by arresting the prime accused.
Providing details regarding the case, SP Vishaljit Singh stated that the police had received information about the discovery of a man’s body inside a truck. Upon receiving this information, a case was immediately registered at the ‘C Division’ police station. The investigation into the matter was initiated under the leadership of Inspector Rajwant Kaur (SHO, C Division) and ACP (South) Preet Inder. During the investigation, the deceased was identified as Nishan Singh, a truck driver. In connection with this case, Harjit Singh—alias ‘Jeetu’—a resident of Mule Chak village in Amritsar, has been arrested. The accused, too, worked as a truck driver.
According to the police, a few days prior, the accused had gotten into an altercation with the victim over an act of deception that occurred during work. Following this incident, the accused fled the scene. Then, last night, he went to the Tarn Taran Mandi area, boarded Nishan Singh’s truck, and set off towards Kapurthala. An argument ensued between the two while they were en route. When the truck reached the vicinity of ‘Mundi Mor,’ Harjit Singh grabbed a wrench lying inside the truck and struck Nishan Singh on the head. Once the victim was left critically injured, the accused strangled him to death using a *parna* (headcloth).
The police apprehended the accused within just a few hours. The wrench used in the murder and the cloth strip used for strangulation have also been recovered. The accused will be produced before a court and taken into police remand to facilitate further interrogation. The police stated that the investigation into the case is ongoing and is expected to be concluded shortly.
