BJP leader RP Singh has taken aim at Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann via social media. Specifically, ahead of the Chief Minister’s meeting with the President, RP Singh tweeted suggesting that it might be time to implement a new protocol—one that includes a ‘breath analyzer test’—to ensure the dignity and sobriety of high constitutional offices are upheld. RP Singh’s statement is being widely interpreted as a direct jibe at Bhagwant Mann. Following the tweet, reactions within political circles have intensified, sparking a debate on the issue. However, neither the Aam Aadmi Party nor the Chief Minister’s Office has issued an official response to this matter so far. Political analysts believe that such statements could further heat up the political atmosphere in the days to come.
It is worth noting that the Shiromani Akali Dal recently shared a video on the social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), alleging that the Chief Minister had arrived at the Legislative Assembly session on ‘Labour Day’ in an inebriated state. The party strongly criticized the incident, deeming it a violation of the House’s dignity, and labeled it “shameful” in its post.
