A speeding tourist bus traveling from Amritsar to Jammu met with an accident near Kaler Khurd on the Amritsar-Pathankot National Highway. The incident resulted in the deaths of two young men who were on board the bus.
Additionally, five passengers are reported to have sustained injuries. In the aftermath of the crash, five vehicles traveling behind the bus collided with one another, sustaining severe damage. The exact cause of the accident remains unknown at this time. Harish and Nitish—residents of Jammu who were traveling on the bus—stated that they are students at a private college in Amritsar. After completing their examinations at the college, they, along with eight of their friends, boarded tourist bus number JK 02 DS 8849 in Amritsar to head home to Jammu.
“All of us friends were seated at the back of the bus. We were asleep when the bus overturned. When we opened our eyes, we realized that the rear windshield had shattered due to the bus overturning, causing me and some of my friends to be thrown out of the vehicle.” During this chaotic moment, two of their friends died on the spot as a result of the bus overturning.
ASI Baljit Singh confirmed that two students lost their lives after a tourist bus overturned at approximately 7:00 AM. He added that around eight people sustained injuries during the incident. The identities of the deceased have not yet been established. Furthermore, about five vehicles traveling behind the bus were involved in a multi-vehicle collision; however, no injuries were reported among the occupants of those vehicles.
