Phagwara Police Crack Down on Thieves: 5 Accused Arrested, Substantial Stolen Goods Recovered

Date:

The Phagwara Police have achieved a major breakthrough as part of a special ongoing campaign against miscreants, robbers, and thieves operating within the community. This operation was executed under the able leadership of SP Phagwara Madhvi Sharma (PPS) and DSP (Sub-division Phagwara) Palwinder Singh (PPS), acting under the directives of District Kapurthala SSP Gaurav Toora (IPS). Demonstrating promptness and efficiency, the police successfully solved two separate theft cases, arresting a total of five accused individuals and recovering a substantial quantity of stolen goods from their possession.

Providing detailed information to the press, SP Madhvi Sharma stated that the first case was registered under the jurisdiction of the Rawalpindi Police Station, District Kapurthala. Kamaljit Kaur, a resident of Begampur and wife of Charanjit Ram, had filed a complaint with the police alleging that on the night of May 11, 2026, unidentified thieves broke into her home and stole various household valuables—including a washing machine, refrigerator, LCD TV, two gas cylinders, an inverter, a dryer, and a juicer machine. Based on the woman’s complaint, the police registered Case FIR No. 45, dated May 12, 2026, at the Rawalpindi Police Station under Sections 305(A) and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and initiated an investigation.

Considering the gravity of the matter, a police team led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Rawalpindi Police Station advanced the investigation and, through swift action, apprehended three of the accused individuals. The arrested accused have been identified as Sahil (son of Anil Kumar), Shamsher Singh alias ‘Mani’ (son of Kuldeep Chand), and Gurjit Singh (son of Davinder Singh); all of whom are residents of Begampur, falling under the jurisdiction of the Rawalpindi Police Station. Acting on the information provided by these accused individuals, the police have recovered two stolen gas cylinders, a juicer-mixer machine, a plastic sack, an LCD screen, an electric iron, a hair dryer, a refrigerator, and an iron rod that was used during the theft. The police are conducting continuous raids to apprehend other accused individuals involved in this case—including Omkar alias Kari (son of Tarsem, a resident of Begampur), Gora (a resident of Bharo Majara), and Saini—and they too will be arrested as soon as possible.

As part of this same campaign, a second case has been solved by the City Phagwara Police Station. Based on a complaint filed by Ashwani Kumar (son of Om Prakash Sharma, a resident of Ashok Vihar, Hoshiarpur Road, Phagwara), Case FIR No. 152 was registered at the City Phagwara Police Station on May 26, 2026, under Sections 331(4) and 305 of the BNS. Ashwani Kumar stated that he owns a mobile phone shop in Central Town, Phagwara, and that Arshdeep Dadra (son of Sukhwinder Ram, a resident of Malkpur) also owns a mobile phone shop situated right behind his premises. During the intervening night of May 23 and 24, 2026, unidentified thieves stole the air conditioner compressors (outdoor units) installed on the rooftops of both shops.
