The lax security protocols and operational inefficiencies at the Central Jail continue to grab headlines. In the latest incident, narcotics and a mobile phone were recovered from an undertrial prisoner during a routine search.
According to reports, following the recovery, the police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act and the Prisons Act, acting on a complaint filed by Assistant Superintendent Surjit Singh. Police Investigating Officer Dinesh Kumar stated that the accused undertrial has been identified as Shivam Verma, son of Sanjeev Verma. Authorities recovered 7 grams of a cream-colored narcotic substance and a keypad mobile phone from his possession.
