11-Year-Old Drowns in Gill Canal; Family Had Buried Young Daughter Just Months Ago

Date:

A deeply tragic and soul-shuddering incident has come to light, in which 11-year-old Tarandeep Singh—an innocent child who had gone to bathe in the Gill Canal—drowned and lost his life. The body of this beloved child, who had been missing since Tuesday morning, was recovered from the canal late Wednesday evening following an arduous search effort by divers. As soon as the child’s body was brought out of the water, a wave of shock and sorrow swept through the entire locality.

**Tarandeep’s Body Recovered from the Canal**
The deceased Tarandeep’s distraught father, weeping inconsolably, recounted that his youngest son—the family’s darling—had left home on Tuesday morning, mentioning that he was going to bathe in the Gill Canal. When he failed to return home even after sunset, the family spent the entire night searching for their beloved child in every conceivable place; however, when no trace of him could be found anywhere, the police were informed. The following day, starting Wednesday morning, the police and divers launched a massive search operation in the canal. After several hours of intense effort, Tarandeep’s lifeless body was finally retrieved from the canal around 5:30 PM on Wednesday evening. As this devastating news reached their home, the parents were left completely shattered, and a pall of mourning descended upon the entire village.

**Family Still in Deep Shock Over the Death of Their Young Daughter**
The deceased Tarandeep was the youngest of three siblings and the apple of the entire family’s eye. This tragic chain of events did not end there; this unfortunate family had already lost their 16-year-old daughter earlier this year, in February, due to a severe illness. The parents had not yet even begun to recover from the profound shock of their young daughter’s death when the sudden demise of their youngest son in such a manner has left them utterly broken—feeling as though they, too, have died while still alive. Now, the only surviving member of this ill-fated family is their 14-year-old middle son, Karandeep. Investigating Officer Harbans Singh stated that they received a report regarding the child’s disappearance and the apprehension that he might have drowned in the canal; immediately thereafter, a search operation was launched with the assistance of divers. Late in the evening, the body was recovered from the canal, taken into custody, and has currently been safely deposited in the mortuary.
