Chaos ensued beneath the Damoria Bridge in Jalandhar when a massive fire suddenly broke out in a pile of garbage accumulated under the structure. According to locals, garbage has been accumulating beneath the bridge for a considerable period. It was within this very pile of waste that the fire suddenly ignited. Upon seeing the rising flames, residents immediately alerted the Fire Department. Surprisingly, a fire brigade sub-station is located in close proximity to the Damoria Bridge; however, residents have alleged that the personnel stationed there failed to provide timely assistance. Residents claim that when they contacted the fire brigade sub-station situated near the Damoria Bridge, the officials present there allegedly brushed off their request for help, citing “leave” as an excuse. As no immediate action was taken by the sub-station, the situation began to deteriorate further. Consequently, the city’s main fire station—located at Basti Adda—was contacted. A team dispatched from there finally managed to bring the fire under control after a strenuous effort at the scene.
Residents Face Prolonged Distress
Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries resulting from this incident; however, residents faced significant distress as smoke continued to blanket the area for an extended period.
